Ahh yes, it is the season of the sun. The season of beaches, vacations, and warmth. It is often a favorite for many as long as they can handle the sweltering heat. Nothing like lounging around in a lawn chair propped on the sandy shores of your favorite beach. You have no worries in the world, but wait, you don’t know your English summer Vocab! Adjectives
Breezy - A nice, enjoyable warm wind blowing. “There’s a nice ocean breeze blowing in.”
Hot - The temperature is high. “It is so hot outside, I am sweating bullets.”
Humid - The air has moisture in it, it will feel sticky and hot outside. “The humidity is too much, I went outside and it felt like I was breathing in a hot cloud.”
Salty - Relating to a high amount of salt. “I started coughing after I accidentally swallowed some salty ocean water.”
Sweltering - The heat is way too hot for enjoyment. “The sweltering sun beat down over us and we had to go inside, it was way too hot.”
Sunny - There is a lot of sun present. “It was a sunny day yesterday, but now today is storming.”
Warm - There is some, but not too much heat present. “The water was nice and warm today, not too hot, not too cold.”

Firefly/Lightning Bug
Firefly/Lightning Bug - A flying bug that quite literally lights up at night. Associated with summer.
Fly
Fly - A common housefly, an annoyance for anybody trying to eat in the summer, whether they are inside or outside. They will bother you if you have food.
Lightning Bug
Lady Bug - A tiny, red beetle with black spots. They don’t do much other than eat plants.
Mosquito
Mosquito - A huge nuisance, Mosquitos bite you in an attempt to take some of your blood. Wear bug spray around them, they can carry diseases.
Seagull
Seagull- A bird that is common on a lot of beaches, will scavenge for food. So if you have food near one, be mindful of them and do not feed them.

Bikini
Bikini - A summer garment women in the west use for swimming or tanning.
Flip Flops
Flip Flops - An open-toed, sandal like shoe that has no back encasing, it flips and flops on the ground, hence the name.
Hawaiian Shirt
Hawaiian Shirt - Hawaiian Shirts are special button down shirts that typically feature images of beaches, flowers, or cartoon characters on them. Are they Tacky? Yes, but they stylish? Also yes. They are popular among vacationers and hipsters alike.
Shorts
Shorts - They are the style of the summer. Like pants, but cut in half. The popular summer time choice of leg garments due to great ventilation and simple style.
Sun Dress
Sun Dress- A Sun Dress is a lighter dress that is meant for going out in hot weather, has the style of the dress, but with great ventilation. Popular in the summer for keeping cool with both style and temperature.
Sun Glasses
Sun Glasses - You know them, you love them. They protect your eyes, but please, do not wear them indoors.
Swim Trunks
Swim Trunks - The swim suit of choice for many men. Can have patterns or be plain, but either way, they are great for swimming and can dry off quickly after exiting the water.

Coconut is popular in the summer, especially for those who are traveling to tropical islands on their summer vacation.
